Who We Are...
Juicy Newt is a rock and roll three piece out of the east valley. The band started playing together in spring of 2003 but the idea of juicy newt was actually conceived years earlier. The members: Annamarie Sanchez (guitar, lead vocals), Brenda Perkins (bass, back up vocals), and Sarah Bingham (Drums), had been friends for years when one day while hanging out a funny story was told and the punch line was 'juicy newt'. Somebody said they thought that would be a good band name. From that moment on, although lacking instruments and basic know how, we were in a band, we rocked, we were juicy newt.

Our Sound...
By the time we had all scrounged up functional instruments we were already in our early twenties and feeling terribly behind. This left no time for lessons or any kind informal training for that matter. We went into our first practice with a "just do whatever sounds cool" philosophy. From our very first moments playing together we were writing our own music.

People who haven't heard us are constantly asking us to compare ourselves to other bands, and are disbelieving when we tell them we can't. Once they have heard it they aren't too quick to put a label on our sound either. Nobody has ever told us that we sound like another band. Listen for yourself, we sound like Juicy Newt.

Weezer, Led Leppelin, Jimmy Eat World, Unwritten Law, My Chemical Romance, The Beatles, The Stones, Snoop Dogg, Queen, Johnny Cash, The Killers, Blink 182, The Talking Heads, The Cure, The Pixies, Nirvana, Soundgarden, pretty much the entire 80's hair metal genre, and the list goes on….

Linkin Park, SlipKnot, Creed, Limp Bizkit, 311, Nickelback, TLC, Avril Lavigne, any "artist" that doesn't write their own music but has the look, etc., etc., etc.,

We Believe…
We are about music. We don't have an image to sell. Playing music is what we want to do. We have never worked so hard for anything until now.
